Our Junior Taekwondo program is one of the most systematic martial arts curriculum with focus on learning abilities for children for the age of 6 years and up. It encompasses more than physical skills. We teach them ways of enhancing their spirit and life through training their body and mind.

What Do They Learn?

One of the best things about Taekwondo is that it’s very broad and includes a lot of techniques. This means that anyone – even the youngest of children – can find something that fits them. Our program has several basic elements that it teaches, which means that whether they prefer to just learn the technical aspects, master the forms, break boards, want to sparr or learn self-defense – they will certainly find something that suits their interests and preferences.

The general benefits of sports for children are well known, but since Taekwondo teaches so much more, it is pretty clear why it is so beneficial for every child. It’s also good because you can adapt your training according to your preferences. It doesn’t matter at what age they start because it is never too late to learn!

Effectiveness and Realism

Our program is realistic due to the fact we role play specific situations that are most likely when encountering a bully and will prepare them for more real-life situations. Children master things quickly (they learn much faster and can master some techniques quicker due to their bodies being more flexible) so parents have more confidence sending their child out knowing they are prepared.

Full-Body Workout

We not only prepare them for real world self-defense, they also get a great workout. We all know how important exercise is for children and their development. Since Taekwondo has a lot of techniques that activate your whole body, it’s only logical that it provides an excellent full-body workout for your child.

They will activate and engage every part of their body – from head to toe – and will burn calories every session. This is especially important if your child is not very active on their own.

Self-Defense

Although self-defense is – directly or indirectly – a part of a vast majority of combat sports and martial arts, we offer a more precise, complete and focused approach to self-defense. It is extremely important for children to know how to defend themselves from an early age.

We teach a complete Martial Arts philosophy, so they will learn a lot of different defensive (and offensive) techniques. This means they will have a variety of self-defense techniques by training with us.

Our Junior Taekwondo classes are adapted for children in this aspect also, meaning that children will learn self-defense in a simpler, child friendly manner. Even as the techniques and situations get more complex.

Strength

Due to the fact that our classes can be demanding and physically straining (keeping in mind the fact that it is adapted for children), along with the fact that most children start off slowly and then work until they reach the desired level, we can conclude that it will certainly elevate your child’s strength, along with other things.

Our program is great because it enables your child to work and upgrade their strength in a relatively short period of time. So, if you think it is good for your child to become stronger, while also enjoying and learning new things, this class is perfect for them!

Competitiveness

Although your child doesn’t have to become a professional fighter, we will certainly increase your child’s competitive spirit. Taekwondo in general can be very competitive. We temper that by teaching sportsmanship through courtesy, respect, and self control. We ingrain that from the beginning.

We will instill in your child the positive aspects of competition and how to prosper from it. We teach them how to use that competitive spirit no matter if they become professional or just recreational sportsmen later on. Their competitive spirit will certainly increase and that will easily translate that into other areas of life.

Respect

Although Taekwondo, like a lot of other martial arts, may be perceived as aggressive, it actually teaches them how to respect their opponent and the rules of the game. Being grateful and honoring others feelings is a major part of what we do.

Respect for their coach/teacher, their opponent, the rules, all add up to earning others respect for youself. You can see how it can positively influence your child in this aspect. When they feel respected it improves their overall behavior as not to loose that respect from their friends, class mates, and even you…the parent.

Problem Solving

Interestingly enough, Taekwondo can be just as effective as chess in some specific aspects. While it will not stimulate your child’s brain the exact same way, it is a very unpredictable discipline that requires concentration and constant mental activity.

You have to watch out for your opponent, you have to apply an adequate tactical approach and you have to know how to get out of a tight spot. Certainly, your child’s physical predispositions are important, but brute force won’t get them very far if they’re sparring an intelligent opponent who knows how to play to his strengths and to their weaknesses.

Confidence

Building on the prior aspect of problem solving, it has to be said that this training will also increase your child’s confidence. Being sure of oneself comes from self-satisfaction. With the ability of figure things out, elevating their stamina, physique, and boldness, your child’s confidence will soar to new levels. After seeing what they can do on the mats during training sessions, they will use the newly found energy in all other aspects of their lives. It is not at all surprising that the training they receive has psychological benefits as well.

New Skills

The simple act of coming to class will teach your child something new every time. They will probably start off not knowing anything about martial arts, and while the complexity and diversity of the art may seem a bit too much for a child, the art will always allow them to advance their knowledge. Every class at every level offers a lot due to the technique and applications are involved.

This is also another psychological benefit of training with us, but it can be related to several aforementioned points. So, if you want your children to broaden their horizons and learn something new, we will certainly give them enough material to do exactly that. So don’t hesitate and use it to your advantage.

Socialization

Although you probably will not enroll your child in classes to find new friends, it’s one of those benefits that comes with the program. Although several things are done alone or one-on-one, training sessions are usually done in groups. They will always have the opportunity meet new and diverse people.

With their training your child will learn how to be a part of a larger group of people who share the same interest and passions as them. That is always a good thing as they continually meet and cooperate with different people throughout their life.

Handling Stress

Although children may not encounter the same stresses as working adults, school and other real-life problems will cause them to be in a bad mood or feel down. This is where we come in. Putting them under “artificial” stress and teaching them how to deal with it will train them how to stay calm and handle real world stress. With the focus on training and all the points mentioned above, will help your child relax and enjoy the time spent in every training session.
