All of our programs are separated by age level, and this is no where more apparent than with our Karate Kubs program. These young ninjas need to be be in a structured, positive, and fun environment. We built our Kubs Program from the ground up with these things in mind.

This age group needs to be challenged, but in the appropriate way. We employ a healthy balance of both physical exercises & mental drills to help our students build strong minds and bodies. Our physical exercises help our students with flexibility, strength, coordination, and agility while our mental drills help your child develop focus, memorization skills, self-control, and most importantly their self confidence. All of this is done in a safe, structured, and exciting environment.

What Do They Learn?

Our Karate Kubs program is designed with a young child’s abstract mind as the cornerstone. This means even the youngest of children can benefit from our program. While we are teaching the basics of the art, our focus is much deeper. Young children learn through play. With that in mind we have created a curriculum that optimizes their learning capacity. We integrate our fun, colorful targets and teaching aids with imagination and fun scenarios to build a solid foundation to build on as they grow. They feel like they are becoming ninjas!

The truth is we use the ‘ninja training’ to reinforce much deeper attributes. Self control, discipline, focus, and respect are integrated into the format of every class

Childlike Realism

We build each class as if the child were living in their daydream, or the scenarios they play out on the playground. Their imagination has them fighting off dragons, dinosaurs, and alligators. The real world applicability of those techniques are evident and are easily transferable to real world situations. At this age they do not understand the threat of bullying or the real likelihood that someone else would want to harm them. As they grow and mature and these situations come to life, they are equipped with the tools they need to effectively fens them off.

Increase Motor Skills

We not only teach them through play, they also get a great workout. We all know how important exercise is for children and their development. Since Taekwondo has a lot of techniques that activate your whole body, it’s only logical that it provides an excellent full-body workout for your child.

We begin focusing on major muscle groups and gross motor skills. As they progress we are able to target more specific muscle groups as well as finer motor skills. In time their bodies will crave exercise.

Self-Defense

As mentioned above, the Kubs learn self defense through imagination and play. The techniques they use are the same as any other student in any of our Taekwondo programs. They learn how to connect techniques and execute a combination of moves that are most effective for situational self defense.

We teach a complete Martial Arts philosophy, so they will learn a lot of different defensive (and offensive) techniques. This means they will have a variety of self-defense techniques by training with us.

Strength

Due to the fact that our classes can be demanding and physically straining (keeping in mind the fact that it is adapted for children), along with the fact that most children start off slowly and then work until they reach the desired level, we can conclude that it will certainly elevate your child’s strength, along with other things.

Our program is great because it enables your child to work and upgrade their strength and refine their motor skills in a relatively short period of time. So, if you think it is good for your child to become stronger, while also enjoying and learning new things, this class is perfect for them!

Introduction to Competition

Taekwondo in general can be very competitive. We temper that by teaching sportsmanship through courtesy, respect, and self control. We ingrain that from the beginning. While they may not compete directly with one another, we are gradually introducing them to the concepts of healthy competition.

We will instill in your child the positive aspects of competition and how to prosper from it. We teach them how to use that competitive spirit.

Respect

Although Taekwondo, like a lot of other martial arts, may be perceived as aggressive, it actually teaches them how to respect their classmates and the rules of the class. Being grateful and honoring others feelings is a major part of what we do.

Respect for their coach/teacher, their opponent, the rules, all add up to earning others respect for yourself. You can see how it can positively influence your child in this aspect. When they feel respected it improves their overall behavior as not to loose that respect from their friends, class mates, and even you…the parent.

Problem Solving

Interestingly enough, Taekwondo can be just as effective as chess in some specific aspects. While it will not stimulate your child’s brain the exact same way, it is a very unpredictable discipline that requires concentration and constant mental activity.

Not only do we challenge them with techniques and scenarios, we have a variety of games, exercises, and obstacle courses that help them to work out the situation in their head before proceeding. A valuable skill for their life ahead.

Confidence

Building on the prior aspect of problem solving, it has to be said that this training will also increase your child’s confidence. Being sure of oneself comes from self-satisfaction. With the ability of figure things out, elevating their abilities and boldness, your child’s confidence will soar to new levels. After seeing what they can do on the mats during training sessions, they will use the newly found energy in all other aspects of their lives. It is not at all surprising that the training they receive has psychological benefits as well.

Physical Discovery

The simple act of coming to class will teach your child something new every time. They will probably start off not knowing anything about martial arts (thinking they know everything), and while the complexity and diversity of the art may seem a bit too much for a child, the art will always allow them to advance their knowledge. Every class at every level offers a lot due to the technique and applications are involved.

This is also another psychological benefit of training with us, but it can be related to several aforementioned points. So, if you want your children to broaden their horizons and be exposed to something new at a young age, we will certainly give them enough material to do exactly that. So don’t hesitate and use it to your advantage so they live a life of discovery.

Social Skills

Another key benefit of the program is they will get to meet new friends. Socialization can be limited for this age group and this provides an outlet to gain social skills. Although several things are done alone or one-on-one, training sessions are usually done in groups. They will always have the opportunity meet new and diverse people.

With their training your child will learn how to be a part of a larger group with kids wanting to do the same things as them. That is always a good thing as they continually meet and cooperate with different people throughout their life.

‘Imaginary’ Stress

Although children may not encounter the same stresses as their parents, they will encounter things that will cause them to be in a bad mood or feel down. It is important to teach them how to handle these situations without adding stress to them. Putting them under “invisible” stress means they are dealing with a relatable real world situation while playing it out in a fun, safe way. We teach them how to deal with it and train them how to stay calm and handle it. With the focus on training and all the points mentioned above, will help your child relax and enjoy the time spent in every training session.
